PERE VENTURA GRAN VINTAGE AMONG THE BEST SCORE WINES AT GUÍA PEÑÍN 2023
together with Pere Ventura Tresor Anniversary cava they get 95 points out of 100
The Guía Peñín de los Vinos de España, a reference for Spanish wines worldwide, has just published the scores of the wines that have been tasted and will be included at the Guía Peñín 2023, where Pere Ventura Family Wine Estates wines have obtained extraordinary results in each of the group’s wineries: Pere Ventura (DO Cava), Can Bas Domini Vinícola (DO Penedès) and Mervm Priorati (DOC Priorat).
Among all the wines that the wineries of the group presented, Pere Ventura Gran Vintage Paraje Calificado Can Bas 2015 cava stands out for having obtained 95 points out of 100, an exceptional result not only because it is a very special and particular Gran Reserva cava, but also because it was the first time it had been tasted and evaluated by Peñín tasting team.
In the tasting note it is described as a sparkling wine “with character, ripe fruit, dried fruit, reduced lees. On the palate powerful, tasty, good acidity, fine bubbles, fine bitterness”.
Pere Ventura Gran Vintage Paraje Calificado Can Bas is a cava that tells of the place it comes from, a small area of vineyards qualified after their special soil conditions and a micro climate that sets them apart from the rest of the vines grown around them. GRAN VINTAGE represents the Paraje Can Bas: the identity of this cava comes from its origin, the series of variables (climate, geology, soil and biome) that determine the expression of the grapes and yield a unique must that is the reflection and interpretation of that vintage. The uniqueness of the terroir, together with quality criteria of its production and ageing, create a cava with distinctive characteristics. It also draws value added and identity from its history and the age of the soil.
Another cava that has also achieved 95 points and that repeats the score for the second consecutive year is the Pere Ventura Tresor Anniversary 2017, a Gran Reserva with a lot of personality that has accumulated awards and recognition not only nationally but also internationally. In the tasting note it is described as a sparkling wine with the aroma of “fine lees, nuts, toasted. In the mouth it is powerful, tasty, good acidity, fine bubbles, fine bitterness”.
Guía Peñín grants a special distinction to wines that have obtained 95 points or more and considers them exceptional wines. For this reason, Pere Ventura Gran Vintage 2015 and Pere Ventura Tresor Anniversary 2017 have been selected to be part of the Podium Zone at the next Best Wines of Spain Show to be held in Madrid on November 28 and 29.
The Guía Peñín has also scored the following Pere Ventura sparkling wines: Pere Ventura Vintage Gran Reserva 2015 with 94 points, Pere Ventura Tresor Cuvée Barrique 2018 with 92 points and Pere Ventura Tresor Brut Gran Reserva 2018 with 92 points.
