EL CEL 2019 SCORES 95 POINTS ACCORDING TO WINE SPECTATOR

New scores have just been published by the prestigious American magazine Wine Spectator, a world authority in the world of wines.

Merum Priorati El Cel 2019 has obtained a score of 95 out of 100, an extraordinary assessment considering the level of demand that has always characterized the Wine Spectator tasting team.

Wine Spectator has described El Cel 2019 as a “wine where the notes of crème de cassis, mocha and licorice notes are rich and creamy on the palate of this harmonious red, underscored by savory accents of cured tobacco, smoke and loamy earth. Structured by sculpted tannins and vibrant acidity, this is well-meshed, ending long and expressive on the finish. Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Syrah. Drink now through 2035″.

El Cel is the most exclusive and sublime wine of Merum Priorati’s wine collection. Made from grapes that have been grown on our higher altitude vineyards, ripening slowly as they reach up to the sky. Its personality grows, evolves and, with time, becomes even rounder.

2019 was a year of climatic harshness. It was characterized by having a warm winter and a very early budding of the vines. Spring was generally rather dry. The heat wave that arrived at the end of June was very intense, causing the vines to burn. High temperatures and constant waves of heat continued during the month of July and August. September had little rainfall and finally October was pretty rainy.

Along with El Cel, Merum Priorati wine collection is made up of Inici and Destí, two wines that have also received the relevant awards and recognitions. Thus, Inici 2019 has been scored with 92 points in the last tasting by Wine Spectator and Destí 2018 was chosen as the 4th Best Wine in the World by the prestigious magazine.
