Pere Ventura Gran Vintage GR 2012 on the shortlist for the ‘best Spanish sparkling wine in 2017’ by Verema

Online forum and wine magazine Verema has nominated Pere Ventura Gran Vintage GR 2012 as a candidate for ‘the best Spanish sparkling wine in 2017’

Gran Vintage is an old dream come true. Gran Vintage is sourced from the oldest plots located in the highest altitudes of Can Bas, planted in the most singular location within the Pere Ventura Estate in the Penedès wine region. Those Mediterranean plots excel for their small dimension and, although their erratic yields, those plots are able to grow native grapes with an outstanding quality. In this way, the ancient Macabeu from L’Anciana and La Secreta truly become the soul of this unique long-aged cava. Together with its cupage with old Xarel·lo grapes make its 50 months of aging just the beginning of its plenitude.

Can Bas terroir expresses all its senses through this sparkling wine, thanks to its subtleness which has been already commended for some of the most reputed international wine experts.  The final results for ‘the best Spanish wine in 2017’ will be announced next March.
